FORT BONIFACIO, Taguig City- The Philippine Army has sent its elite combat scuba divers to augment the government forces tapped in the ongoing search and rescue operations in Masbate to locate DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo whose plane crashed off Masbate City on Saturday (Aug 18).
Led by Cpt Jerry Jaucian, the 29-man contingent from the Special Forces Regiment (Airborne) arrived in Masbate port at around 11:00am today, Monday.
Thirteen combat divers and 16 support personnel composed the group of highly-skilled military personnel which will be deployed in scouring the deep waters near the crash site.
Colonel Felix Castro Jr., the Commander of the 903rd Brigade of the Philippine Army has immediately conducted mission briefing to the group upon their arrival at the unit's tactical command post here.

Up to this writing, the victims of the plane crash are yet to be found. Rescuers have so far, found small debris of the ill-fated plane.
Army spokesperson Major Harold Cabunoc said that Lt General Emmanuel Bautista, the Army chief has fully supported the search and rescue missions mounted by various agencies in order to find the plane crash victims.
"We will join the whole nation in prayers that Secretary Robredo is safe. Our soldiers will do their best to bring them home," Cabunoc said.
